about
Venter's Stag Motel is a concept. It is a metaphorical motel. A stage for music presentation. A creative output with a purpose and mental image.
My close friends, and/or people who collaborate in the music become "residents". Residents can live indefinitely, move out, back in, who knows- it's up to them.
The word "stag" is supposed to bring to mind an animal that has antlers- a buck that looks at you from some hill at dusk. This is a nice thing.
The music is my own.
It has taken me a few years to seriously overcome the internal fear of sharing my music openly.
This entire project was urged forward out of my head because of a statement in the War of Art by Steven Pressfield --
"Resistance is directly proportional to love. If you're feeling massive Resistance, the good news is, it means there's tremendous love there too. If you didn't love the project that is terrifying you, you wouldn't feel anything. The opposite of love isn't hate; it's indifference.
The more Resistance you experience, the more important your unmanifested art / project / enterprise is to you -- and the more gratification you will feel when you finally do it."
